Aint no rocket science, very straightforward actually. Just do the following:
Step 1: select an article she wrote, e.g. on ezinearticles
Step 2: enter that URL into http://backlinkwatch.com
Step 3: harvest time, baby...
For example:
Step 1: select http://www.goarticles.com/cgi-bin/showa.cgi?C=1151743
Step 2: notice the 2984 backlinks shown with http://backlinkwatch.com
Step 3: identify a few potential targets. a quick scan reveals: http://www.readwriteweb.com/ PR8, http://www.unfoundation.org/ PR7, http://www.yo-yoma.com/ PR6, http://www.papermag.com/ PR6, http://www.businessweek.com/ PR8, http://www.librarian.net/ PR7, http://pajamasmedia.com/ PR7, http://www.jossip.com/ PR6, http://www.desmogblog.com/ PR7, http://11thhouraction.com/ PR6
That took me all of 10 minutes to find. Now go pay me $5 please for this info
Seriously, anytime you see someone with a simple page ranking high for a term you want to rank for, go do this exercise. Works not only for articles but also for blogs, regular sites, etc.
Things to notice: (a) the sites linking TO the high ranking page have nothing to do with the niche of the high ranking page, whats important is the authority of the source page, (b) as much as possible, use the keyword for your anchor text, don't vary very much. (c) if you want backlinks to another page on your site, just rinse and repeat; if this was untrue then articles from e.g. goarticles and ezinearticles would not rank. (d) this works well also for very high competition keywords, but it takes more backlinks to rank well.
